DoLeaf

Epiphyllum oxypetalum or Cereus oxypetalus is a tropical plant that is easily grown as a drought tolerant pot plant. In fact it blooms best when it is root bound. Grow in light shade to partial shade. It needs fairly bright light to bloom. The flowers are exciting enough to have a party over, which is commonly done in areas of the Deep south. The flowers start to open for me about 9 PM and are completely open in an hour or two. They last one night, and they perfume the air all around when they open. I can always tell if I have blooms by just stepping out on by back porch. I have several large plants that spend the winter indoor and the summers outside. they seem to synchronize their flowering so that I usually have several blooms at one. These are well rooted cutting in a 4 inch pot.
